Ingredients

  • 1 package of Korean fish cakes (4 square type fish cakes)
  • 4 cups of anchovy broth
  • 2 boiled eggs (optional)
  • 1 cup of daikon radish, cut into thick slices
  • 1 cup of boiled vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms
  • Soy sauce and Korean red pepper flakes (gochugaru) for seasoning
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Preparation

  1. Prepare all the ingredients by boiling the eggs, daikon radish, potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice cakes, and vegetables until they are cooked through.
  2. Cut the wide fish cakes into two long strips (or fold into thirds) and Skewer them onto wooden skewers in a zigzag pattern.
  3. In a large pot, bring the anchovy broth to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Add the skewered ingredients to the pot of simmering broth.
  5. Season the broth with soy sauce and Korean red pepper flakes to taste. Start with a small amount and adjust according to your preference for spiciness.
  6. Let the oden simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, allowing all the flavors to meld together.
  7. Once everything is heated through and well-flavored, serve the Korean Style Fishcake Oden skewers hot in bowls, garnished with chopped green onions.
