Unleash the flavor of Japan & Korea: Morinaga Pack Tofu Soft 305g!

Smooth, Creamy, and Shelf-Stable Tofu

The Morinaga Silken Tofu (305g) is characterized by its exceptionally soft, custard-like consistency and smooth texture. Unlike firm tofu, this type retains more moisture, making it ideal for blending. Its unique packaging allows it to be stored without refrigeration until opened, ensuring convenience and freshness for a wide range of recipes. This tofu offers a clean, neutral taste, making it a versatile ingredient for both savory and sweet applications.

Delicate Texture for Blending and Sauces

This silken tofu variety is perfect when a velvety, non-gritty texture is required. Its high water content and delicate structure mean it is easily puréed, making it an excellent replacement for cream or eggs in many dishes. It integrates seamlessly into sauces, dressings, and creamy dips, lending a smooth body without altering the main flavor profile. Its simple composition of water and soybeans makes it a great base ingredient.

How to Enjoy

Serve this soft tofu chilled, topped with a simple Asian dressing made from soy sauce, ginger, and scallions, known as Hiyayakko in Japan. Blend it into smoothies or shakes to add a creamy texture without heavy dairy. For a savory application, gently cube it and add it to miso soup or soft stews like Sundubu Jjigae just before serving. It can also be used as a base for creamy, dairy-free chocolate mousse or cheesecakes.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to open the Morinaga Pack Tofu Soft 305g without damaging the delicate tofu?

Carefully peel back the top film. To release the tofu easily, turn the pack upside down onto a plate, then gently pierce a small hole in the bottom of the carton to break the vacuum, allowing the tofu to slide out smoothly.

For Hiyayakko, chill the tofu thoroughly. Once cold, slice or cube it carefully and place it on a serving plate. Drizzle with soy sauce and garnish with desired toppings such as grated ginger, chopped green onions, or bonito flakes.

To maintain its form in hot dishes, add the soft tofu in larger, gently cut cubes towards the very end of the cooking process, just before serving. Simmer it for only a few minutes to warm through without excessive stirring.

For savory dishes, serve it with soy sauce, ponzu, or a light miso dressing. For a sweet treat, drizzle with maple syrup, honey, or a fruit sauce. Its neutral taste makes it highly adaptable.

Soft tofu is preferred for dishes where a silky, creamy texture is desired, such as in smoothies, desserts, creamy sauces, delicate soups, or as a dairy substitute. Firmer varieties are better for grilling, frying, or stir-frying where structural integrity is key.
