About the author

Fritz Schumann has been reporting from and about Japan as a photojournalist and filmmaker for German and international media since 2009. The work of the native Berliner (* 1987) has been awarded international prizes, e.g. as dpa New Talent and College Photographer of the Year.

Ever since one of his stories from Japan went viral online and sparked a tourism boom in the Iya Valley, his work has been featured regularly on Japanese television. His films and current research are available online at www.fotografritz.de.
